Up Periscope

Up Periscope
A periscope is a really handy tool. It could see over walls and around corners! The periscope could be a long tube or a short box. I made my periscope out cardboard from a box. It’s a long rectangle with two holes on parts. (Square holes work best).  The first step is to lay the cardboard flat. Divide that into four sections. The first section has a square hole in the top left corner. That’s what you’ll be looking through. Then cut out another square hole in the 3rd section on the bottom. Fold the four sections. Then tape them together. Then hold your periscope upwards so that one square hole faces left on the bottom and another one on the top facing right. Cut out slots for the mirrors. The top mirror has to face outwards and facing downwards. The bottom mirror has to face outward and upwards. Look in and see if you could see over across the room image. If the mirror keeps slipping out that means put a piece of cardboard on the slot and tape it on. Do this on both sides and both mirrors. How the periscope works is that light rays ahead of you go into the periscope (upper part). As it goes in the rays hit a 45 degree angled mirror (45 is at a slant) facing down. Then the light bounces down to another mirror facing up so it goes into your eyes. It’s amazing what science can do!

Currier Art Muesum, Manchester

Currier Art Museum, Manchester
Half of the fourth grade classes went to the Currier Art Museum in Manchester.  When we were on the stairs the railing was spiraled so it felt as if your hand was going to spin off. We had tour guides. My favorite thing was the clean furniture. I liked the way it looked, even if it was from a long time ago. I liked the picture with mountains on it. It looks more real. The thing that caught my attention was the “please be seated” bench. I thought it meant you COULD sit on it but that was just the name of the bench. These things really caught my eye because they popped out in color. Those art creations are new and old. No matter how old, I liked everything.

My first post

Hi my name is Tim! I’m in fourth grade. I’m 9 years old. My favorite subject in school is math. I like gym and recess too. I have a fish that is almost 4 years old with a life span of 3. I like when school is cancelled because I like reading in my bed. Oh before I go I want to tell you that I love sports. I might’ve told you that but I haven’t told you my favorite teams yet…………..My favorite teams [or team] for baseball is the Red Sox and for minor league baseball is the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. My favorite football team is the Patriots of course! Well this is it - my first blog post!
